- hottest album of 2017 coming soon -

(this is a joke, to clarify)

When I first moved into my new apartment a few days ago now, I noticed that three boys were moving in above us (I live in a duplex). They looked about my age, or maybe a bit older.. hmmm.. promising. After a few days, my roommate, Em, and I realized we hadn't seen them at all since move-in day, so we decided to go upstairs and introduce ourselves. Being the nice neighbours we are, we brought them a welcoming gift - a six pack of Pabst: Blue Ribbon beer - probably the douchiest beer to exist.. but how fitting for a group of boys, right? WRONG. We knocked on the door and two girls answered. Confused from the start, we made awkward small talk and slowly understood that these were our actual neighbours... shit. With beer in hand, I was secretly hoping that Em wouldn't hand it to these innocent girls. But just as I thought, she goes, "We brought you beer.. here, enjoy" as a look of fear and embarrassment filled my eyes. And now the six-pack sits in their fridge, or they probably threw it out, who knows. Still to this day, we have no idea where those boys went, but now it remains a funny story. Those poor girls probably think we're nuts. Cheers!

On a lighter note, it's been six days living in my new apartment and I'm still alive, hurray! I've been to Canadian Tire more in one week than I have in my whole life. I have gotten very good at MacGyver-ing things around the place.. my dad would be so proud.

Em and I spent all our grocery money on plants this week. Even if we don't have any food, at least we have ample oxygen to go around! We have spent days cleaning and decorating and it's all slowly coming together.. starting to feel more like home. During the unpacking process, I also realized I am a borderline hoarder. I like to think I live a minimalistic lifestyle; I keep my room clean and organized, but then I go and keep a math assignment from sixth grade thinking I might need it for something important later. It's a vicious cycle and my room ends up a cluttered mess yet again. I'm getting better though, thanks for your concern. They call me... 7 Knives because that's how many knives it takes me to cook one meal because I keep putting them in the dang sink without thinking about it. I set off the fire alarm only four times so far, so clearly, I need to work on my kitchen habits too. There's also six thermostats in this tiny two-bedroom apartment which confuses me to death but I'm just gonna go with it and hope for comfortable living temperatures in every room I enter.

As some of you may know, I am a huge germaphobe - I hate germs and cleaning is a sport I excel in. For a house to be considered a home, I have to comfortable, meaning it has to be clean. The biggest aspect is strange, but true - I will not walk around barefoot unless the floors are spotless. Some may think that is a little extreme, but this apartment is so clean and I am so happy. I can walk barefoot all I want, and that is the only criteria I need to make this house a home. As they say, "Home is Where The Bare Feet Are." That's what they say, right?

Living on my own I have realized that things are what you make of them - and I'm not talking about food. I mean that everyday is a chance to create something new for yourself. Put down your phone, shut your laptop, the internet will still be there. Pick up a pencil, read a good book, give yourself some space. Start with one thing at a time and you will be surprised how much you can create. There is literally nothing in the world that blooms all year long, so don't expect yourself to do so as well. Take a load off!

My goal is to make this new place a home for permanent happiness, and I hope to find that place in myself too.

PS. If you've made it this far, thank you. I didn't expect to receive all the love and support on my first ever blog post a few days ago. If you're reading this, thank you! I appreciate you!
