Pictured here with her three children, Debby Campbell-Remedios has officially been named the best mother in the world
I am completely convinced that mothers are the greatest creatures of all existence. They are our creators, nurturers, caregivers, providers, teachers, protectors - literally our everything. Every human being is on this Earth because of their mother; without them, the world would simply not exist.
I will argue you, yes you, until the end of the world that my mom is the best mom. She rules all the moms. They say that a mother's love for their child is unlike anything else.. but considering how much I love my mother, I find that hard to believe. I am sure my siblings would agree with me when I say that we have been given the best mother any kids could have. I thank God everyday that He has blessed us with her.
She is probably the most immature-mature parent I know. We often find ourselves in situations asking each other, "Who's the parent and who's the child?" when she's riding in grocery carts, leaving a mess everywhere she goes, or still laughing ten minutes after a joke ended. I always end up shushing her in the movie theatres, helping her choose an outfit for the day, or picking her up from her friend's house in the middle of the night.. but I wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes my friends come over just to hangout with my mom and I don't even mind it. She hashtags every Instagram picture with #blessed and I'm not sure who taught her that. I also hate to admit it, but it's true that moms are always right. Whether I realize it a few minutes later when I walk outside and I'm freezing cold when she told me to bring a jacket, or a few years later when she encouraged me to get a job and now I appreciate the value of money living on my own. If anyone knows my mom, you would know that she only gets along with dogs or children, or as she likes to call them, little people. She loves love. She always tell us "At the end of the day, love makes the world go round" and she's never been more accurate.
So, mom..
Thank you for giving me your name.
Thank you for teaching me not to stick knives in the toaster even though I still do.
Thank you for forgetting to pick me up from practice and telling me that you were late on purpose, "teaching me patience." good one.
Thank you for not disowning me during my weird tween phases.
Thank you for keeping our life-size cardboard cutout of Justin Bieber in the kitchen for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for always cheering the loudest at my hockey games, even though you had no idea what's going on (and still don't).
Thank you for making me laugh like no other human can.
Thank you for screaming along to songs in the car with me that we don't even know the words to.
Thank you for supporting every decision I've ever made, which has got me to where I am today.
Thank you for teaching me that a woman's position in the workforce does not come easy - thank you for teaching me to work hard.
Thank you for keeping me humble; that not one person is better than the other.
Thank you for teaching me that life is too short to not have what you want - to dream big.
Thank you for teaching me to have faith and that anything I am going through is setting me up to prosper.
Thank you for always believing in me when I don't believe in myself.
Thank you for pushing me to be the best person I can everyday.
Thank you for teaching me what real love is.
But most importantly, thank you for being you. Nobody could ever replace you. You deserve the world and more. You are the loveliest, most beautiful person I've ever known. You inspire me each and every day - you are cherished beyond belief and you are worth all the hugs, kisses, smiles and love the world has to offer.
Mom, I love you, and I will love you until my heart is black and blue.
happy mother's day
to all the moms in heaven
to all the people who have lost a parent
to all the fathers taking on both roles
to all the parents who've lost a child
to all the older siblings playing the mom role
.. this day is for you!
Tell your mother you love them.. not just today, but everyday.
